Hazim Fazlic is an adjunct professor of Islamic Studies at Lake Forest College. He also serves as imam of the Islamic Cultural Center of Greater Chicago. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies from the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Sarajevo, and Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Birmingham (UK). His main research interests revolve around religious practice and history of Balkan Muslims and peace and reconciliation in the context of religion. His recently published papers include ‘The Elements That Contributed to the Survival of Islam in Tito’s Yugoslavia’, appeared in the Oxford Journal of Islamic Studies (2015) and ‘Perspectives on Building Trust among Communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina: The Challenges and the Role of Faith Communities’ in the Journal of Ecumenical Studies 2015).
