Building Community-Police Relations in Milwaukee: The Role of Dialogue

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

We are pleased to announce a Niagara Forum with Katie Sanders, Executive Director of Safe & Sound. The title of her talk is ” Building Community-Police Relations in Milwaukee: The Role of Dialogue”. We are thankful to Turkish American Society of Wisconsin for being co-organizer for this talk.

Short abstract:
“Recent events have shed light on the brokenness of community-police relations, both nationally and here in Milwaukee. Dialogue and creating understanding among community members and law enforcement is essential to building trust and improving that relationship. Safe & Sound unites residents, youth, law enforcement and community resources to build safe and empowered neighborhoods. This talk will explore what Safe & Sound is doing to repair community-police relations and build social cohesion in some of Milwaukee’s most challenged neighborhoods.”
