The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the first week of February as World Interfaith Harmony Week in 2010. This initiative provides a platform for all interfaith and goodwill groups to participate in interreligious dialogue to promote two common fundamental religious Commandments: Love of God, and Love of the Neighbour. The World Interfaith Harmony Week is meant to encourage programs on a global scale to spread the message of interfaith harmony, peace, and goodwill. These celebrations occurs in churches, mosques, synagogues, temples and other places of worship through voluntary support.
Dubai will host the first World Interfaith Harmony Day on February 4 featuring speakers from the faiths of Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Mormonism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Zoroastrianism. This event will be hosted at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar, a place of worship for Sikhs, and is sponsored by the Pacific Rim Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization located in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Speaker from various spiritual traditions will be talking about their favorite passages from numerous sacred scriptures.
Events like these ones will be taking place all over the world to engage communities to unite efforts of all the interfaith groups to increase their collective momentum, and create tolerance among the followers of all the world’s religions, faiths and beliefs.
