Valerie J. Van Meter, Senior Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Valerie Van Meter is senior vice president and a member of the Management Committee for the Seventh Federal Reserve District. She leads the central bank services division, which includes discount window lending, payments system risk, reserve accounting and statistical and financial reporting. In addition, Van Meter has senior oversight of the Federal Reserve System’s executive leadership training. She also serves as the District’s equal employment opportunity officer and director of the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI).

Van Meter has been with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago since 1993, holding various management positions in central bank services, the Customer Relations and Support Office, and the Detroit Branch. From 1984 through 1993, she held various official positions with California Federal Bank and First Interstate Bank of California. Van Meter began her career at the Detroit Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 1978. She has been a director for Junior Achievement of Chicago since 2004, is a member of Chicago United’s Leaders Council since 2008 and serves on the Honorary Board of Advisors for the Student Veterans of America.

Van Meter holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan, is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.
