Mr. Roell joined Johnson Controls, Inc. in 1982. He became vice president and chief financial officer in 1991. He was named executive vice president in 2004 and vice chairman in 2005. He became chief executive officer in 2007 and chairman and CEO Jan.1, 2008. He retired in January of 2014.

Mr. Roell serves on the boards for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Medical College of Wisconsin.
