“Earth Anthem” by Abhay K
“Our cosmic oasis, cosmic blue pearl
the most beautiful planet in the universe
all the continents and the oceans of the world
united we stand as flora and fauna
united we stand as species of one earth
black, brown, white, different colours
we are humans, the earth is our home.
Our cosmic oasis, cosmic blue pearl
the most beautiful planet in the universe
all the people and the nations of the world
all for one and one for all
united we unfurl the blue marble flag
black, brown, white, different colours
we are humans, the earth is our home.”
World Environment Day is held annually on June 5th by the United Nations. It is a global platform for public action with more than 100 countries participating.
Each year has a particular theme, and for 2015 the slogan is “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care,” focusing on sustainable consumption and production. The amount of natural resources that are consumed and the detrimental repercussions on the environment are reaching crisis levels, and if there are no efforts to change the projections, Earth will not be enough to sustain our ways of living. With living sustainability, we can change how we produce and use products and resources in a way that either will be less harmful or even beneficial to the earth. One person, one decision doesn’t seem like much, but when you multiply that by the efforts of billions of people across the globe on a day like World Environment Day, those small decisions can together make a big impact.
The Niagara Foundation would like to encourage all of you to do something for the environment today!
