Every year, on August 15, Catholic Churches celebrate the Assumption of Virgin Mary into heaven. Although, it is not celebrated in the United States as largely as in other countries, many Christians still attend church services and have a big feast.
According to Catholics, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Oriental Orthodoxy beliefs, the Virgin Mary was raised into heaven bodily before her body would decay at the end of her earthly life. The feast of the Assumption is an important day in the Catholic religion. This day honors two events: leaving life by Virgin Mary and the assumption of her body into heaven. On this day, people attend church services; have festivals with music, dancing, artwork, fireworks, and other types of celebrations.
