Sevgi Akarcesme started as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001. She later became a Research Assistant at Temple University in 2003 and later for the CSIS Turkey Project. In 2008 she moved on to become a Special Assistant at the Office of the President for the Republic of Turkey, later continuing on to become an advisor at the Center for Strategic Research at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is currently a columnist and senior editor at Zaman, Turkey’s largest newspaper.
